Missing Women Compensation

In August of 2011, Mr. Gratl was appointed to the role of Independent Counsel for Downtown Eastside communities.  His role was to represent the perspectives and interests of affected groups and individuals from the Downtown Eastside.

In May of 2013, Mr. Gratl commenced a lawsuit on behalf of 13 children of women named by Commissioner Oppal as victims of Robert William Pickton.  In December of 2013, the City of Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada responded to pressures generated within the lawsuits and by political advocacy by announcing a 4.9 million dollar settlement for approximately 90 children of murdered and missing women.

The lawsuit against Robert Pickton and David Pickton continues.
